I've figured out that under normal circumstances, catching fish isn't impossible and the fact is you have no idea what might attack your bait, and that is exciting. Last fall I took some freshwater bass gear to the beach and caught a few trout in the panhandle.

I drove myself crazy trying to sling a heavy lure in medium winds with my baitcaster. It really was hurting my productivity having to quickly tend to backlashes as i flirted right up to the edge in an effort to get distance. Ultimately it was interfering with focusing on the fish and fishing. So the plan was cemented to obtain a beefy enough spinning rig to get the job done, but compact enough to fish all day in a variety of conditions.
