LINGERS
(NOTE: I have availability Wednesday, October 28th and Saturday, October
31st. I am trying to fill the vacancies so call or email if anyone is
interested in booking these open dates. Thanks, Steve)
Autumn angling continues to deliver a potpourri of weather patterns
that have kept most fishermen off balance. From last week’s cold fronts and
nasty north winds to this week’s cool, windy and wet conditions it has been
unpredictable on Kentucky Lake.

Crappie Bite Bonus
I haven't been after the crappie in a week. My fishing buddy has been a few times since and has done pretty well, so we loaded up and fished last night. We fished from about 730pm to midnight. The bite was slower than two nights before when he'd last gone, but steady enough to keep us out there.

Thanks to an overdue warming trend the bass and crappie bite really improved this week on Kentucky Lake. Anglers were beginning to think cold temps and bone chilling winds would never go away but sunshine and light winds finally arrived.
It has been an unusual spring. This week is a prime example as it began with a warm day and thunderstorms only to see another cold front with brisk north winds slip in the door at midweek. Now it appears warm days and light winds will dominate as the weekend approaches.

Stubborn Spring Crappie
Kentucky Lake anglers have battled above average water levels and below average temperatures this week. Both the fish and fishermen have been confused.
Warm and sunny or cold and windy? Take your pick as everything from snow flurries to sunburns have been part of this week’s fishing scene.
Crappie have been thrown off as have the bass. Both have been scattered this week. Some flirted with shallow areas while others were taken here, there and everywhere. It’s fair to say fish have been roaming.
After a few days of brutal winds and below average temperatures it appears moderate weather will return as the crappie spawn returns to more active phases. Last week the fish were beginning to move up fast but the uninvited cold front really put the brakes on the spawn, delaying it by at least a week.
